Prospective StudentsmyCampus - an informative way to preview the college experience. Information: Admissions departments are easily accessible through the myCampus portal, which provides prospective students with all of the necessary information, such as application forms and deadlines, without requiring that they get lost on campus looking for the Admissions Office. Financial Aide offices are the source of some of the most important information that a prospective student needs, including scholarship and grant applications and recommendations on the various ways to pay for college. This in mind, having data easy to find and utilize through myCampus, and having the office contact information provided in the same place, prospective students can get the financial support that many depend on. Communication: Included in the myCampus portal is a Message Board application which includes support for “sticky notes,” blog postings, RSS feeds, email-based subscriptions, avatars and thread management capabilities for both message board users and admins. This provides a great way for prospective students to get a pulse on what the hot topics currently are on-campus and what current students and peers consider noteworthy. Entertainment: The ability of the myCampus portal to host, contain, and display information for student organizations (see Student Activity Leaders) allows prospective students to see what kinds of on-campus organizations are available at their prospective universities. They are able to view photos from recent events, check out membership demographics, and see schedules of upcoming activities that may be open for them to attend as a member of the community. A myCampus-provided bridge to a popular job search aggregate provides prospective students who already have their sights set on life after college can look at the pulse of specific jobs and general employment on the area near their potential future alma mater. Prospective students who are undecided about their future plans can also benefit from a mini employment forecast, as well as by looking at job descriptions and requirements of careers that sound appealing to them at this early stage.
